Improvements being made at Mount Joy

Mount Joy Snow Resort is heading into the coming season with some improvements in place, including a major mechanical upgrade and new earthworks aimed at keeping the parking lot drier. President of the Board for Mount Joy, Dean Peters, said the goal is always to make the experience better for the public who attends. The first project has replaced the tow rope cable on its T-bar lift, a project that had not been done since 1978. Peters said the work cost between $50,000 and $60,000. “It was a project that was a few years in the making and was necessary,”

City firefighters ratify deal after 4-year dispute

Lloydminster’s firefighters have a contract. Lloydminster City council voted Monday to ratify a collective agreement with the International Association of Fire Fighters Local 5182 covering the period from Jan. 1, 2022 to Dec. 31, 2024 – ending a labour dispute that outlasted the agreement itself. The previous contract expired Dec. 31, 2021. Bargaining began in November of that year, but nine rounds of talks failed to produce a deal. Two days of mediation in September 2023 also collapsed without resolution. Five more bargaining sessions followed, and those too went nowhere. The city ultimately moved to interest arbitration. Provinces dodge healthcare accountability in Lloydminster

The following is an opinion column by BorderPulse editor Dan Gray. Lloydminster, it is time to get angry. Once again, we are being treated like we don’t matter and we are stupid. Here is why. They released the report. That sentence is doing a lot of work. It is technically true. A document exists. Ministers made statements. A press release was distributed. But in Lloydminster, where residents have been waiting since at least the fall of 2025 for a $254,000 health assessment of their own community, “releasing” something and being transparent about it are not the same thing. The province
